Our history
The Roots of Pineapple Women
Pineapple Women is a nonprofit organization with a simple but profound mission: to empower young Latinas to recognize their value, unleash their potential, and pursue their dreams with confidence. Our founder, Andrea Chaves, worked as a public school teacher in Queens, New York, when she recognized the need to empower this community of underserved students. That's why Pineapple Women was born to provide young Latinas with tools and resources, female role models, and a strong support system. We believe that every young woman deserves the opportunity to thrive and succeed. We work to understand the challenges they face and help them build brighter futures for themselves and their community.
