Women in Marketing Leadership: A Conversation with Casandra López

At the latest Pineapple Talk, attendees had the privilege of hearing from Casandra López, a Business Growth Consultant and Digital Advertising Specialist based in Ireland. Her journey offers a powerful example of what women in marketing leadership can look like today, blending passion, purpose, and balance in a fast-paced career.

Casandra shared that her work allows her to blend two things she loves most marketing and education. Each day, she connects with professionals across different industries, from startup founders to marketing directors, learning how to tailor her communication to each unique audience. “You need to take out your hat and think, who am I speaking to?” she explained. “It’s not the same speaking to a marketing director who knows the strategy as it is speaking to a CEO who’s focused on profit and revenue.”

Beyond technical skills, Casandra emphasized the power of adaptability and communication in building trust and understanding in professional spaces, skills essential for women in marketing leadership who often navigate complex, cross-cultural environments. “I’m learning all the time,” she said. “And the best part is, I also get to teach others about marketing; it’s my sweet spot.”

Casandra was also candid about the importance of rest. Working across languages and cultures, she acknowledged the mental toll that comes from constant meetings, presentations, and communication. “Of course, I get tired. I get drained,” she admitted. “But I’ve learned there’s productivity in resting. Sometimes sitting down for five minutes and doing nothing is the most productive thing you can do.”

That reminder resonated deeply with attendees. In a world that often glorifies nonstop hustle, Casandra’s message stood out as both grounding and inspiring: rest is part of success, not the opposite of it.

When asked what led her to marketing, Casandra reflected on a moment from her teenage years. A book she read in high school, Predictably Irrational by Dan Ariely, sparked her fascination with how psychology connects to consumer behavior. “It was my first exposure to behavioral economics,” she said. “I was amazed at how our brains impact the economy and our daily decisions. That’s when I realized this is what I want to study.”

From there, her curiosity turned into a calling. She pursued marketing with enthusiasm, analyzing supermarket layouts, advertising tactics, and brand psychology. “I used to follow people in the supermarket just to see what they bought,” she laughed. “I was obsessed I wanted to understand every choice.”

Casandra’s story serves as a powerful reminder that passion begins with curiosity, and growth comes from both hard work and intentional rest. Her journey shows young women—especially future women in marketing leadership, that balance is what keeps your passion sustainable.
