THE STORY OF PINEAPPLE WOMEN

Pineapple Women is a non-profit organization with a simple yet profound mission to ensure that all young women can recognize their own value, share their stories, and step into the future with confidence. Our founder, Andrea Chaves, was a public school teacher in Queens, New York, where she recognized the need to empower this underserved student community. That's why Pineapple Women was born—to provide tools and resources, women role models, and a strong support system for young Latinas. We believe every young woman deserves the opportunity to thrive and succeed. We work to understand the challenges they face and help them build brighter futures for themselves and their community.

OUR MISSION

Pineapple Women’s mission is to ensure that all young women can recognize their own value, share their stories, and step into the future with confidence.

We do this by blending representation (visibility of role models), mentorship and community (support systems), and practical skill-building (like digital literacy and leadership training) into free programs that remove barriers and open pathways to education, careers, and leadership.

OUR VISION

We envision a future where young women — especially Latinx and other underrepresented voices — see their identities as sources of power.

Pineapple Women creates spaces for mentorship, storytelling, and skill-building that empower these young women to thrive as innovators, leaders, and changemakers, inspiring generations to come.

Why did we call it Pineapple Women?

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Our Board of Directors is comprised of passionate volunteer leaders dedicated to empowering girls and young women in the Latinx community.

As a growing organization, Pineapple Women is currently led and operated through the active involvement of its Board of Directors and dedicated volunteers, who support the organization’s programs, partnerships, mentorship initiatives, and day-to-day operations. Together, they are helping shape the organization’s long-term vision, expand its impact, and build a strong foundation for future growth.
